Q: What is the last book that made you cry? Tell us about the scene?

I'll admit I got a little teary eyed while reading Pushing the Limits by Katie McGarry. It's not that it's a sad book, but there is a scene toward the end when Noah has to make a difficult decision. I don't want to give the story away, so I'm going to be vague, but I could feel his struggle and my heart went out to him.

How about you? What's the last book you read that made you cry?

Q: Books are turned into movies all the time! Turn it around. What movie would make a great book?

Sweet Home Alabama. I fell in love with the characters in the movie. It would have made an awesome book.

What movie would you pick?

Q: Do you mind books with similar ideas to other books? Similar concepts, backgrounds, retellings or pulled-to-publish fanfic?

For me it really depends. I've read books that I can see overwhelming similarities to other books, but the characters are interesting or the plot has a unique twist so I keep reading. If a book is beautifully written, I'll keep reading just because I love the author's style of writing. I guess that's the key for me, if a book is intriguing and makes me want to follow the characters' journey then I'm going to keep reading. If a book tells the same story or the writing is bad then I'm going to put it down. It doesn't matter where the spark for the story came from.

What about you?

There's two different questions this week. I stuck with the one I liked the cover, but not the book.

Q:
Best cover? What is the best cover of a book that you've read and didn't like?

I like some of Holly Black's other books and I really wanted to like Tithe, but the story just wasn't holding my interest. I remember sticking it out to something like page 150 and finally giving up.

Welcome to Feature & Follow

Q:
What is the worst cover of a book that you've read and loved?

This was a hard one for me, because unless someone highly recommends a book with a cover I don't like or it's an author I know I enjoy, I don't typically pick up the book. But thinking of some of my favorite series, I did remember this one. The cover doesn't capture my image of Georgina Kincaid.

Q:
Happy Father's Day! Who is your favorite dad character in a book and why?

First to come to mind was Mr. Weasley. I know Alison said this too, but he popped in my head before I read her answer.

Second was Mortimer from Inkheart. He's a Silvertongue and has spent years protecting his daughter, Meggie, while he searches for the book his wife is trapped in.

Who'd you think of when you read this question??

Q: You are a matchmaker -- your goal, hook up two characters from two of your favorite books. Who would it be? How do you think it would go?

I’d match Jezebel from Hell’s Belles and Vlad from the Grave series. They’re both strong immortals with good hearts. Not to mention, they’d be hot together. I’m not sure who I’d want to write that book, Jackie Kessler or Jeaniene Frost. Either one would guarantee a sizzling romance.

And how about Nuala who is a faerie from Ballad and Cam from the Fallen series. They’re both supposed to be evil and not care about humans, but they do. Well, at least some humans. I think they would bring out the best in each other.

How about you? Any characters come to mind?

Q: Activity! Dreamcast your current read.

I hate to admit it, but I've been having such a hard time getting into a book lately. I think it's because I've been working diligently on finishing the sequel to my book that every time I try to read for pleasure I feel like I should be polishing mine up. So I'm going to cheat a little on this one and include the dream cast for my novel, Embrace. I do hope everyone will forgive me for doing my own book.

Madison Riley
I chose Emma Watson as Madison because of her easygoing
personality, lighthearted laugh, and overall sweet appearance.
She'd have to dye her hair a darker, but that's easy enough to do.

Kaylee Bishop
Selena Gomez's big brown eyes and warm smile fit
Madison's best friend, Kaylee Bishop.

Isaac Addington
Kevin Lutz’s broad shoulders and sly smirk makes him a good candidate
for Isaac Addington, the mysterious new guy. Who wouldn’t want to get to know
him better? And that smirk is a dead giveaway he knows something we don’t.

Josh Corey
And I can’t forget Josh Corey, Madison’s good friend and Kaylee’s boyfriend.
Ben Jelen’s dark features, longer hair, and don’t mess with me look reminded me of Josh.
Dangerous and sweet wrapped up in one delicious package, don’t you think?

Q: Summer Break is upon us! What would be the perfect vacation spot for you to catch up on your reading & relax?

I love this question. My perfect vacation spot to catch up on reading would include a view of the ocean or a lake. The first three places to pop in my head were:

1) Maui. The weather is beautiful, the water crystal clear, and it's the island where it would be easy to relax with a good book.

2) Washington State. I've never been, but I hear it's beautiful. I'd have to do a little research to know the best place for curling up with a book.

3) I also hear Figi is beautiful. I'd love to mix touring the island and reading.

I have to admit, most of the places I'd like to visit wouldn't be good for reading. I'd be too busy sight seeing, but I've found plane rides are a great place to catch up on reading and I've yet to fall asleep on one. A trip to Europe would still allow me plenty of time to read: London, Prague, Italy, Germany... my list of places I'd love to go is quite long.

How about you? Where would your perfect vacation to catch up on your reading be?

Q: Fight! Fight! If you could have two fictional characters battle it out (preferably from books), who would they be and who do you think would win?

Hmm... this is a hard one, but the first two characters to pop in my head are from adult novels. Bones from Halfway to the Grave and Harry Dresden from the Dresden Files. Bones is a master vampire: very smart and cunning. Harry is a crafty wizard who manages to find his enemies weaknesses. If it came down to a fight to the death, I do think Bones would win just because he is a master vampire and has powers to go along with the title. But in the end, both Bones and Harry fight for good so they may realize this and team up. Look out bad guys if they do.

Q:  Have you ever bought a book BECAUSE of a bad review?

I can't say that I have. And to be honest, I don't read many 1 or 2 star reviews to start with. I tend to think that the book simply wasn't for those readers. The exception to this is if the bad review is written by someone I follow and know has similar taste in books as I do. The review won't spark my interest to buy the book though.

How about you? Ever buy a book based on a bad review?

Q: Do you read one book at a time or do you switch back and forth between two or more?

I'm almost always reading at least two books at a time. Currently, I'm reading The Fault in Our Stars by John Green and two books from my pub sisters. They're all great reads so I'm keeping them in different rooms. This way I can just pick up whichever book is closest and continue the adventure.

How about you?

Q: What is the longest book you've read? What are your favorite 600+ page reads?

I honestly can't remember the longest book I've read. It might have been Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. I believe that is longer than Grimm's Complete Fairy Tales. My favorite would be all the Harry Potter books and Impulse by Ellen Hopkins.

Q: Have you ever looked at book's cover and thought, This is going to horrible? But, was instead pleasantly surprised? Show us the cover and tell us about the book.

I'm sure this has happened, but not recently. I went and got myself a cup of coffee as I thought about this question. Still nothing. I think the opposite has happened to me more. I see a book that I like the cover, the blurb on the back intrigues me or I've heard wonderful things about the book, but I have a hard to getting drawn into the story.

If after I finish my delicious cup of coffee I think of a book, I'll come back and update my answer.

How about you? Do any books come to mind?

Q: What book would you love to see made into a movie or television show and do you have actors/actresses in mind to play the main characters?

I just answered half of this question in a post I was tagged in. Movies just don't capture the characters' emotions and tend to miss important details that are in books. Not to mention it's very disappointing when I have a specific image of a character in my mind and the actor or actress cast for the part is nothing like it. For this reason I'd prefer to reread my favorite books and not have them made into movies.

Television is a little different. The writers can take their time developing the characters and plot. I wouldn't mind seeing them make Lament by Maggie Stiefvater into a show. There are only two books in this series, but I think there is a lot that could be done for a TV series. And I wouldn't mind seeing Cat and Bones from Jeaniene Frost's Grave series brought to life.

How would you answer this question?

Today's question:

Q: I like unique names for characters and am looking forward to coming up with some when I start writing. What's the most unique character name you've come across?

Stop by Alison's blog for her thought-filled answer to this question. She brings up a lot of good points, which I won't repeat here since most people following the hop will have already read it.

I like unique names too. Harry Potter is a good example of a series filled with unique names that work well. I've read several fantasy novels with names so hard to pronounce I can't even remember them. That's never a good thing. The first name that came to my mind that wasn't in Alison's post was Lend from Paranormalcy.

So, what name popped in your head?
