Salted Caramel Bliss with a Wedding Kiss: Did you know?
Fun tidbits
2. Salted Caramel Bliss with a Wedding Kiss is part of The Wild Rose Press's One Scoop or Two series. Each novella is a standalone book set in a beach town.
3. The book's title had to have a flavor of ice cream in it to be a part of the series.
4. Ice cream dates back to the mid-1600s. A man working for a Spanish Viceroy in Naples was credited with being the first person to write down a recipe for sorbet and later creating a milk-based icy treat.
5. Salted Caramel Bliss with a Wedding Kiss is my second small town, contemporary, paranormal romance. Both books have a touch of magic woven into the stories.
6. Witches often get a bad rap for being evil, but most witches are quite the opposite, living by the rule of harm none and believing in a peaceful existence.
7. A seer is a person with the gift of sight. They can see the past as well as the future. Peyton's premonitions are usually of the future.
8. Siren's Cove is a fictional town in Maine. Its inspiration came from Ogunquit, ME, which I've only seen in pictures.
9. The terms mermaids and sirens are often used interchangeably. These half fish, half human creatures live in the sea. Many legends depict both mermaids and sirens as having alluring voices that lead sailors to their deaths.
10. Mermaids have magical powers much like faeries.

In honor of Throwback Thursday: Embrace
Hi! And welcome to my blog. In honor of Throwback Thursday, I have an excerpt from my debut novel EMBRACE. This was my first book baby, the one that took me from aspiring author to published author. Madison Riley and her friends are still some of my favorite characters. The magic in this book inspires the magic in my later books.
Be sure to read to the end, I have exciting news!
Peek between the pages
Ishould have cared what I wore, but I couldn’t quite get there. I didn’t see any point in dressing up just to get knocked down. Now, if my best friend had said, Epic party and we’re going, I would have rushed upstairs and changed out of the cream tank top I’d rescued from the hamper that morning, and I would have put on my new jeans, the ones with the rhinestones on the pockets. But that’s not what Kaylee said.
“Your life’s about to change, and there’s nothing you can do about it.”
That’s what she’d blurted into the phone just after she had told me she’d be by in fifteen minutes to pick me up for the party at Wingaersheek Beach. She hadn’t said, I have a great surprise for you, or, You’ll never believe how happy you’re going to be. She hadn’t said anything to hint this change was good, and that bothered me.
For me, change meant major adjustments in my life. It meant learning to live without people I loved. Taking on responsibilities I wasn’t ready for. It meant even a tub of chocolate and peanut butter ice cream and all the lattes in the world wouldn’t make things better.
I called her back several times. She wasn’t answering. Whatever she had to tell me, it had to be bad or she would have told me over the phone.
Madison is familiar enough with change, and she hates everything about it. Change took her long-term boyfriend away from her. It caused one of her friends to suddenly hate her. It’s responsible for the death of a local along with a host of other mysterious happenings. But when Madison meets a hot new guy, she thinks her luck is about to improve.
Madison is instantly drawn to the handsome and intriguing Isaac Addington. She quickly realizes he’s a guy harboring a secret, but she’s willing to risk the unknown to be with him.
Her world really spins out of control, however, when her best friend becomes delusional, seeing things that aren’t there and desperately trying to escape their evil. When the doctors can’t find the answers, Madison seeks her own.
Nothing can prepare her for what she is about to discover.
Dangerous, intoxicating, and darkly romantic, Embrace is a thriller that will leave you spellbound.

Get ready for more magic, mayhem, and
monstruos! From Claribel A. Ortega, author of Frizzy and Ghost Squad, comes the
sequel to the instant New York Times bestselling and #1 Indie bestselling
Witchlings.
Every four years, the Twelve Towns
gather for a legendary magical tournament--the Golden Frog Games.
With Ravenskill hosting this year's
games, all eyes are on Seven Salazar, Valley Pepperhorn and Thorn Laroux: the
most famous Spares in the Twelve Towns. Thorn is ready to compete as a fashion
champion, but when a forbidden hex is used to turn her fellow champions to
stone, suspicion lands on the Witchlings.
As the Witchlings attempt to unravel
the mystery of the stonifications, future Uncle Seven is harboring a dangerous
secret: While she's supposed to be able to communicate with animals, the voices
she hears most clearly belong to monstruos, and one spine-chilling voice is the
loudest of all.
Can Seven fix her broken magic and
find out who is stonifying the champions . . . before Thorn becomes the next
victim?
Claribel talks about THE GOLDEN FROG GAMES
My thoughts...
I'm about halfway through this enchanting and imaginative middle-grade novel. It has such a fun tone, with likable characters I'd love to be friends with. There's mystery, danger, magic, and champions turned to stone! I always enjoy stories where the underdogs save the day. I'm rooting for Seven and her friends to unravel who is behind this mystery, and I'm so very curious to learn more about the monstrous.
I haven't read the first book in the Witchling series, and while it took me a little bit to learn all the characters, there is enough backstory for a reader to thoroughly enjoy this book without reading the first. But do yourself a favor, and grab Witchlings book one first, so that you or the young reader in your life can spend even more time in this magical world.

9 Books for Fans of Witches
If you're like me, you can't get enough of witches and magic. So today I thought I'd share nine books I've either read and enjoyed or are on my to-be-read list. Let me know if you've read any of these books or if there is a book you think should be on the list.
I read WITCH CHILD by Celia Rees years ago, and it remains one of my favorite books about witches. Blurb: The spellbinding diary of a teenage girl who escapes persecution as a witch--only to face new intolerance in a Puritan settlement.
EMBRACE by Cherie Colyer is the first book in my Embrace series. Good and evil live side-by-side fighting for their cause. If you read the book, let me know which side you chose. Blurb: Anything can happen in a town where people possess The Powers. Sixteen-year-old Madison Riley will discover these powers exist and she will need to embrace them if she hopes to save her friends.
I really enjoyed MAGIC OR MADNESS by Justine Larbalestier. It's the first book in the series that I highly recommend. Blurb: For fifteen years, Reason Cansino has lived on the run. Together with her mother, Sarafina, she has moved from one place to another in the Australian countryside, desperate not to be found by Reason’s grandmother Esmeralda, a dangerous woman who believes in magic. But the moment Reason walks through Esmeralda’s back door and finds herself on a New York City street, she’s confronted by an unavoidable truth—magic is real.
HOW TO HANG A WITCH by Adrian Mather is on my to-read list. Blurb: It's the Salem Witch Trials meets Mean Girls in a debut novel from one of the descendants of Cotton Mather, where the trials of high school start to feel like a modern day witch hunt for a teen with all the wrong connections to Salem’s past.
THE WITCH'S DAUGHTER by Paula Brackston is book one in the series. I kept seeing this book on different social media feeds so I had to check it out. I'm only a few chapters in and so far I am enjoying it. A little about the book: Part historical romance, part modern fantasy, The Witch’s Daughter is a fresh, compelling take on the magical, yet dangerous world of Witches.
The cover of THE WITCHES OF THE GLASS CASTLE by Gabriella Lepore caught my eye, so I had to add this one to my to-read list. Blurb: Sixteen-year-old Mia's life is turned upside down when she uncovers her family secret - that she and her brother Dino are witches.
WICKED: WITCH & CURSE by Nancy Holder and Debbie Viguie is another book on my to-read list. This one has mixed reviews, but I really want to check it out for myself. If you've read it, let me know what you thought. Blurb: Holly, Amanda, and Nicole are about to be launched into a dark legacy of witches, secrets, and alliances, where ancient magics yield dangerous results. The girls will assume their roles in an intergenerational feud beyond their wildest imaginations...and in doing so, will attempt to fulfill their shared destiny.
PARANORMALCY by Kiersten White makes the list because the story is original and it kept me engaged. This one says it's for fans of Teen Wolf, Buffy, and Supernatural, and I agree. Blurb: Evie’s always thought of herself as a normal teenager, even though she works for the International Paranormal Containment Agency, her ex-boyfriend is a faerie, she’s falling for a shape-shifter, and she’s the only person who can see through supernatural glamours. She’s also about to find out that she may be at the center of a dark faerie prophecy promising destruction to all paranormal creatures.
HEX HALL by Rachel Hawkins has been on my to-read list for a while. I really need to move this one up. Have you read it? Blurb: As a series of blood-curdling mysteries starts to converge, Sophie prepares for the biggest threat of all: an ancient secret society determined to destroy all Prodigium, especially her.
If you've read any of these books, I'd love to hear your thoughts.
Happy reading!
