Q:
Happy Father's Day! Who is your favorite dad character in a book and why?

First to come to mind was Mr. Weasley. I know Alison said this too, but he popped in my head before I read her answer.

Second was Mortimer from Inkheart. He's a Silvertongue and has spent years protecting his daughter, Meggie, while he searches for the book his wife is trapped in.

Who'd you think of when you read this question??

  3. Great minds think alike! Is Mortimer played by Jerry O'Connell in the movie? I never read the book. Should I? Thanks for visiting me @ Babies, Books, and Signs.

    1. Brendan Fraser plays the dad in the movie and does a great job, IMO. The book is definitely better than the movie and a fun read. But I'm one of those people who almost always prefer the book to the movie.

  4. On the YA scene, Mr. Weasley is a must choose. However, I would venture to epic fantasy, G.R.R. Martin, and mention my adoration for Eddard (Ned) Stark. I shed a tear for the demise he meets at the end of Game of Thrones. But by then, Martin had established him as a father to have, hold and love.

  5. I chose Mo too! And Mr. Weasely has been a really popular choice to far too. :)

  10. My favorite dad from book would be Jack Torrance from The Shinning. He's a very tormented man who has to deal with a life full of abuse in order to become the father he longs to be and, in the end, he gives his life to save his son. I'd say he wins. =)

I come from the Writer's Support Group, trying to catch up with as many blogs as I can.

What a fun post and a great question!
