Insecure Writer's Support Group, September

Hosted by Alex J Cavanaugh

August was a busy month. My agent sent my middle grade ghost story out into the publishing world, I have one or two chapters left of my sequel to share with my critique group and then I’ll be ready to submit it to my publisher, and I’m 40,000+-words into a new project. Add that to my day job and family stuff and I haven’t had time to dwell on the things I’m insecure about.

I’ve been racking my brain for a week now trying to think of what to post today, and I keep coming up blank. So I decided to go with a few random questions and then visit as many IWSG posts as I can.
  1. Toothpaste: do you squeeze the tube from the bottom or the middle?
  2. Toilet paper: do you care if it rolls from the top or the bottom?
  3. Morning person or evening person?
  4. Shoes on or off in the house?
  5. Reading: if you start a book that isn’t grabbing your attention, do you keep reading or put it down?

I told you they were random.

My answers:
  1. From the bottom, most of the time.
  2. Over the top, drives me nuts the other way.
  3. Morning person, although I really don’t like to talk to anyone until after I’ve had a cup of coffee.
  4. Off.
  5. Somewhere around page fifty I’ll stop reading, sometimes sooner if I can tell the story just isn’t for me.

How about you???

  1. Ha!
    1. From the top because I like to annoy other people who share the toothpaste.
    2. I have no idea
    3. Morning person. I'm the first one awake no matter where I am.
    4. Off. Can you imagine the mud?
    5. Depends on my mood. Sometimes I try to preserve, sometimes I read the first page and I'm like byeee

Nice questions! And I liked your answers. It's funny to see how much people depend on coffee :)

    1. I love that you squeeze the toothpaste from the top with purpose. :) And I agree on the mud. It's hard enough to keep the house clean without adding muddy shoes.

  2. You've discovered the secret - keep busy and you won't have time to feel insecure.
Shoes off of course. And I squeeze toothpaste from the middle, much to my wife's chagrin.

  3. Hi. Thanks for visiting my blog earlier. I love random questions, so here are my answers:
    1. Bottom, but that's just to even out the kids squeezing from the middle. Otherwise I'd vary it.
    2. Over the top, of course!
    3. Kinda after lunch, middle of the afternoon person. If I could sleep until 10am then go to bed at 7pm, I'd be very happy!
    4. Both - I don't mind, although my mum and sister both take theirs off when they visit.
    5. I try to continue, but there are 4 or 5 I can remember not finishing.

Great questions. Good luck with your new project. New follower.

  4. I agree with Alex - keeping busy is the way to go. I don't care about the toothpaste or the TP. I like to write first thing in the morning, but I don't like getting up super early. I wear shoes inside because I must. And I will drop a book by page 2 if it's not interesting. Maybe paragraph 2.

  5. This is refreshingly different... a little relief from the gloom and doom... let's see...

    Toothpaste- squeeze from the bottom
Toilet roll - doesn't bother me
I'm both - dependent on which job I'm busy with at that particular moment
Shoes - on/off depends on weather
Book - I'll trudge along until it's finished (unless it's really bad...)

Thanks for the fun, Cherie. Nice to meet you. *waves*

  6. Middle
    bottom
    Morning Person
Shoes off if it's raining or snowing
I have a lot of unread books. I just can't finish it if it doesn't grab me.

    This was fun.

  8. Wow, you are busy!
I'm with you on pretty much every answer, except I will sometimes keep reading a book to the end if I think there's a chance it will improve.
