Checking in

Hi!

We've reached the halfway point of 2016. I figured this was a good time to check how I'm doing on my goals. I'm happy to say I finished the first draft of one WIP. I'm really excited about this book. It's my baby, and while I say this about my other books, too, the characters in this story are the ones who got me hooked on writing. They've grown and changed over the years, and so has their relationships and the intricate details of the plot. This version is a fresh look into their exciting world. It's all new with lots of fun, magical, and sometimes dark things happening. Next up: polishing the manuscript to smooth out the rough spots and really make it shine.

I've done okay in the patience department. My fingers are still crossed that my agents finds a good home for the novel she has. And I have a few other projects in the works.

How's your writing coming? Are you on track with your goals? Enjoying the summer?

Thanks for stopping by!

  1. Well I have a book release this fall, so I think I'm on target.

I think first drafts are the hardest, so if you've topped that hurdle, you're on good footing for what comes next.

  4. My goals keep changing. I think because I can't settle on a project, not good. I should have completed one by now but I'm still hopping back and forth on several. I need to settle down. :)

It's fun to return to those original characters. I did.

  6. Hi Cherie, I have a goal to finish my WIP by the end of July and it's going well but I do have to kick butt this month with the book and my day job to get it all done. You pointing out that 2016 is half over made my heart flutter LOL. Happy writing!

    1. Revising is fun, and trying at times. I'm finding myself rearranging chapters so they flow better. But I'm still loving it. :)

  8. Hi Cherie, like you I have also finished a first draft of my first adult novel. Normally I write MG, this is a big leap for me. And I am very excited.

  10. You are an inspiration with how you can keep multiple projects moving forward. I tend to get so hyper-focused on one thing that I'm a little lost when it's completed or when I find myself of waiting a holding pattern after I pass it off to others.

    1. That's why like to have a couple things in the works at the same time. This way I can switch projects when I need to.

  12. Congrats on completing the 1st draft of one WIP, Cherie. Always nice to have that sense of accomplishment wash over you . . . before you delve into the editing stage.

    1. It is. It's easier to edit too, once the stories down. I'm also more comfortable sharing pages with my critique group now that I have the plot figured out.

  13. It's good to check in once in a while. I'm currently working on Episode three of a four part WIP. Had a dry spell for awhile, I'm hoping to get back to it ASAP.

  14. I guess every author loves their characters. Sometimes I think they are real enough that I will meet them in the afterlife. Wouldn't that be a hoot! LOL
