It's hard to believe it's May already. I hope 2016 is proving to be a good year for you.
To all my cyber-friends who participated in April's A to Z Challenge, congrats on making it through the month. I know it's not only fun, but a lot of work.
April was a busy month. I finished the first draft of my latest work-in-progress and revised my MG ghost story based on feedback I received. I'm excited about both. I'll be getting the ghost story line edited before it goes out on submission. This way I'll know it's as polished as it can be. And I'm going to try my best to step away from my WIP and use that time to flush out another idea I had. As far as insecurities, I've stuffed them in a box for now. I think it's best to focus on positive things, don't you?
Did you participate in the A to Z Challenge? How was it? How's your writing coming? Do you take breaks between drafts? How long do you wait to dive into revisions?
Thanks for stopping by!
This has been an Insecure Writer's Support Group post. It's where writers share their thoughts, insecurities, and encouraging words. Thanks to Alex Cavanaugh and our co-hosts for keeping IWSG going. If you would like to know more about the group, just follow the link above.
Congratulations on accomplishing so much in April. I'll be interested in reading your MG ghost story since I'm thinking of making my next story MG.
ReplyDeleteTo answer your question, I do a lot of revising during the rough draft itself. If I didn't, I wouldn't be able to understand what I was trying to say when I came back to it later. ;)
I know other writers who revise the first draft as they go. I do some of that, but I try not to do too much or I'll never get to the end.
DeleteWell done for all the writing you got done in April - alongside the Challenge. Believe it or not, my writing work improved too. How I fit everything in I don't know. But shock, horror - it's May!! So much more to do EEK!! Wishing you a productive month.
ReplyDeleteCongrats on completing the challenge. :)
DeleteYou definitely had a better month than me. We're still picking up the pieces April shattered across the floor. Regardless, here's to better things, eh?
ReplyDeleteYes, here to a productive May for all of us!
DeleteNo doubt your insecurities deserve box time. I'm glad the writing is going well. :-)
ReplyDeleteAnna from elements of emaginette
I'm hoping to leave them in the box. I'll let you know next month how that goes.
DeletePositive is always best!
ReplyDeleteGood luck with submissions. You were smart to take April and write and polish.
I love hearing the positive, and I love hearing that others are making progress. Sometimes that's the best motivation for me.
ReplyDeleteI did participate in the A to Z and I'm looking forward to fewer blogging days and hopefully more writing days.
Congrats on making it through the challenge. Here's to more writing time in May.
DeleteLife is such a mix of negative and positive, isn't it? Happy writing, Cheri!
ReplyDeleteThanks :)
DeleteDarn it I meant Cherie!
ReplyDeleteKeep them stuffed away! You have LOTS to be positive about. :)
ReplyDeleteI'm going to try!
DeleteHi Cherie, keep the insecurities stuffed away. I am doing the same. April was a good month where writing was concerned. I started my first YA book and have written around 38,000 words till yesterday.
