Hi everyone!
It's time to share our thoughts, insecurities, and encouraging words. Thanks to Alex and our co-hosts for keeping IWSG going. For those who aren't familiar with Insecure Writer's Support Group, just follow the link. It's a wonderful group.
Lately, the weeks are all rolling into one another, and I keep forgetting it's a new month, and therefore time to write this post. At least I remember today, before the first Wednesday slipped by.
I finished my YA Realistic Fiction, which is a great feeling. It's off with my agent to get her thoughts. To keep myself from going crazy wondering if she loves it, hates it, or has feelings somewhere in between, I've been playing around with a new idea and revisiting an old one. This weekend I hope to spend some time outside, buying and planting flowers. I'll be secretly plotting my next book. If you're stuck in your writing, I highly recommend getting out of the house and focusing on something else. The fresh air always stirs the creative juices.
Do you have any insecurities this month? Any words of encouragement? I'd love to hear them, so leave a comment.

Getting outside is a great idea. I tend to walk my dog through a nature reserve, and I'm always inspired. Enjoy your garden, and I hope your agent doesn't leave you hanging too long :-)
ReplyDeleteI'll often walk at the arboretum. It's inspiring too. =)
DeleteI hear ya on the days running together. I forgot about IWSG until I logged onto Triberr and saw your post! That's great you wrote a realistic fiction, which is more of a genre preference for me. Hope your agent gets back to you soon!
ReplyDeleteMe too! She did let me know she liked the beginning, but I haven't heard anything else. The waiting always kills me.
DeleteI have 2 projects to present to the agent and I'm so worried! One is close to being overworked and I'm about to give up. The other is still Shiny New and needs an ending plus some editing. I just don't want to spend more time on projects that may not go anywhere.
ReplyDeleteI have one of those overworked novels on my laptop. Part of me wants to see if it's worth revising and another part of me says to start something new. So while I ponder those books ideas I'm reading through a MG I wrote a couple years ago.
DeleteGetting out of the house is a really good idea.
ReplyDeleteHope she really digs it!
Thanks, Alex. =)
DeleteOooh! buying and planting flowers are one of my favorite things to do. I use my writing as an excuse to keep my flower passion in check.
ReplyDeleteI have the weather to help me stay in check with flowers. That and the darn family of rabbits that ate most my tulips and will probably eat some of my summer flowers too.
DeleteI love plotting books when I'm doing something else. Fresh air is always the best. A late congrats on your recent book release!
ReplyDeleteThanks!
DeleteFingers crossed she loves your book! Getting out in the fresh air and doing other things does help clear the mind. Good luck on all counts.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Catherine.
DeleteThat sounds like good advice. Thanks.
ReplyDeleteHere's my link if you'd like to drop by :-)

You're welcome. =)
DeleteI've been doing a lot of gardening in the last year. Sometimes I liken the writing journey to planting and nurturing seeds. Sometimes I plant a seed and nothing grows, only weeds! But sometimes a beautiful plant comes, and it feels great when that happens. What flowers are you planting?
ReplyDeleteI like that analogy. I'm not sure what I'm planting, yet. I always see what they have and what looks healthy and go from there. I'll be sure to take some pictures to share in a future post.
DeleteI love your fresh air idea! It's that time of year and it's lovely. I hope I can get a lot of it this weekend. Good luck with the new idea!
ReplyDeleteIt's raining here. =( But hopefully tomorrow is nicer. If not, I'll be focusing on writing.
DeleteGardening is exactly how I started writing! That's when the ideas would take root and wind around creating stories. Happy planting to you.
ReplyDeleteAnd hey! It's May! Time for a get together. Next week will likely be busy, but how does the following look fo ryou?
It is May. I'll pm you. =)
